19 long weeks!

These last 19 weeks felt more like 19 years. Great to get a win and break this long losing streak for the Detroit Lions. So some facts about this losing streak and then we are going to move on and start a 19 game winning streak. How’s that sound Lion fans?

  • The Lions losing streak began December 23, 2007
  • The Lions losing streak ended September 27, 2009.
  • Detroit’s last win came against the Kansas City Chiefs.
  • This was a 644 day winless drought for the Lions.
  • Lions quarterback, Matthew Stafford was just a sophomore in college when they won last.
  • The 19 game losing streak was the second longest in NFL history.

Ok, so enough about this 19 game Detroit Lions losing streak. It’s over. History. Gone. The win streak now sits at 1.  Time for some more wins in 2009!!!

The Detroit Lions Win

lions-win-game

What a win! The Detroit Lions picked up a win on Sunday as they beat the lowly Washington Redskins – in Detroit. This was the Lions first win since December 23, 2007, a 19 game losing streak. The final score was 19-14. GREAT WIN LIONS. Stafford threw a touchdown and Morris ran for one. Good all around effort. Here is what the owner had to say.

“We not only got the monkey off our back, we got King Kong off our back,” said Lions owner William Clay Ford. “I’m hoping that this gets us over that hump and gives us a winning attitude.”

Both teams move to 1-2 after this game and now the Lions travel to Chicago to face the conference foes, Chicago Bears. They come in as 10.5 point underdogs at Bookmaker – seems like a nobrainer bet to me. More on this game to come. Congrats on the big win Lions!
